Professional Status

Amber Nichole Dunson is a graduate student currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and is working toward licensure as a mental health counselor. She is currently serving as a counseling intern at Lumen Counseling and Heart Bonds Counseling and is practicing under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional as part of her graduate clinical training requirements.

As an intern, Amber provides counseling services only within the scope of her training and under the oversight of her clinical supervisor. This website is intended for informational and professional introduction purposes only and does not constitute the establishment of a therapeutic relationship.

Scope of Practice

Amber Nichole Dunson provides counseling services within the framework of her graduate training and in accordance with the ethical standards of professional counseling.

Supervision

All clinical work completed by Amber Nichole Dunson is conducted under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional, in accordance with the requirements of her graduate program and state guidelines for counseling interns. This supervision is intended to ensure quality care, professional growth, and adherence to ethical counseling standards.

Amber adheres to the ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by the American Counseling Association (ACA). Ethical practice is central to maintaining a safe and respectful counseling environment.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is an essential component of the counseling relationship. Information shared in counseling sessions is kept private except in circumstances where disclosure is required by law.

Situations that may require disclosure include:
  • Risk of harm to oneself or others
  • Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult
  • Court orders or other applicable legal requirements

Whenever possible, these limits to confidentiality will be discussed with clients as part of our ongoing work.
